Go Pensions is seeking to expand in 2009.  Our work is interesting, challenging, varied and client facing.  There are excellent career and skills development opportunities available within an active personal development environment.

Consulting team

We currently have opportunities in a number of roles.  We have openings for generalists or specialists.  The following headline roles provide a flavour of the type of work we do and hence what roles our consultants perform. The roles are grouped by service types.  The roles are performed mainly within the Pensions industry but we also deliver similar work within HR and Flex.

Internal roles

Various internally facing functions require support and there is an opportunity for candidates to get involved with all of these, including:

  • Sales and marketing
  • Research and development of intellectual capital
  • Technical Panel: research and internal training
  • Product development and long term business planning

These roles are headed by senior people and supported by various Consultants. Senior hires are likely to be responsible for one or more internal function.

Skills and aptitudes

Candidates should have demonstrable subject matter skills (in one or many areas of pensions management or administration). An aptitude for learning new pc packages is important. Go Pensions routinely uses software packages to deliver work: a number of packages are specialist applications. On-line tools are utilised for some services so familiarity with browser based applications may be useful.  Full training is provided.

Good communication skills are required. Senior roles will require excellent communication skills. Communication covers written and verbal ability. Consulting skills are essential for senior hires. Junior hires will be given training and allowed to experience different environments to help them develop.

Virtual working

Go Pensions operates a virtual working environment. This is a little different from the occasional day working from home. It is a highly productive environment which delivers genuine value to clients. Opportunities are available for working in a variety ways and these are discussed at interview.

Training

Go Pensions is committed to training its people. Initial induction comprises about 15 days of training and is delivered during the first 4 to 6 weeks. On-going training is provided for the skills required for effective service delivery. Training is also provided in the following core skill areas:

  • Presentations
  • Sales
  • Negotiation
  • Project management
  • Software applications

All consultants are trained to appropriate levels in these areas. People specialising in certain areas are trained to a higher degree.

Quarterly reviews are used to assess skills and establish short to long term training requirements. Quarterly bonuses are driven from achievement of objectives.

Personal coaches are used to support people with their personal development. We encourage consultants to have a personal development roadmap although this is largely a matter of choice for each person. The whole spectrum of personal development is therefore embraced; from training in core technical skills to coaching in the softer behavioural competencies.
